Another lovely wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi. Jonathon and Sonia wanted a small and private wedding…the smallest wedding we have covered, bride, groom and zero guests 🙂 It was a romantic interlude before heading back to the UK for the big party with all the friends and relatives. as their wedding photographers we were very privileged to enjoy their special and intimate wedding at one of our favourite photography locations, the Four Seasons Langkawi Beach Resort and Spa.
David and Nicki – Wedding at the Datai Langkawi

David and Nicki called me to ask whether I could be their photographer for their wedding at the Datai resort in Langkawi. This is a beautiful location for beach weddings and is fairly secluded from the rest of the resort. Having the wedding in the evening meant we could photograph some lovely portraits as the sun set. It was a lot of fun and we all got tanned!
Sugi and Viji’s Wedding at the Accord Metropolitan Hotel in Chennai, India
Sugi called me from Canada to ask if I could be the photographer for her wedding in Kerala, India, where they had chosen a beautiful resort for the wedding. For those who have not been to Kerala, it is very beautiful and green, very similar to Malaysia in many ways with lots of jungle and rubber plantations. As the date got closer something came up so the venue was switched to the Accord Metropolitan hotel in the middle of Chennai (Madras). This posed some challenges as the Sapphire room which is where the wedding would happen was a windowless room deep in the basement with zero natural lighting and fairly poorly lit, making it probably one of the more difficult venues we had shot in up to that date. Considering we were using the Nikon D300 at that time, coupled with that camera not being known for it’s great low light performance, the wedding shoot would pose a challenge or two.
Happily the photos did come out well. Partly because we shoot in RAW format (I have posted elsewhere the reasons why you should never hire a photographer who is a jpeg only shooter) and partly because we brought additional studio lighting gear.
Once the wedding was over we did some portrature around the hotel. As it’s located the middle of Chennai, a massive bustling, noisy and dusty city, we did portraits both in and outside the building.
As a photographer, I would have to say I do like photographing weddings in India. It was my second trip, the first being a 7 week stint travelling through Hyderabad, Madurai, Trivandrum, Cochin and Chennai. We have had inquiries to be the wedding photographers for weddings in Delhi, Jaipur, and Jodhpur. Maybe we can shoot either yours or your friend’s wedding in the future?
Andrew and Gemma’s Wedding in Chilton Foliat, Berkshire

Andrew and Gemma’s Wedding was in St Mary’s, Chilton Foliat, Berkshire, England. In UK churches flash photography is usually not allowed and as it was a dull wet day most of the interior church shots were taken at 6400ISO using available light. Chilton Foliat is just outside of the village of Hungerford, famed for its antiques. Andrew surprised his lovely bride Gemma by renting a beautiful Aston Martin as his wedding car for the day. The wedding breakfast reception was held on the family farm where they breed race horse for the Newbury races. It was a really special day, and ended with a fun time dancing with the band’s fun music. My good friend and long time shooting partner Lim Hock Seng joined me for this trip and did a beautiful job with his photos. We stayed in Hungerford, easy to reach as it is on the main rail line from London to Exeter, and as mentioned it has an excellent range of antiques. BTW it was COLD! You will notice how everyone is bundled up.
If there were one place in the world I would love to shoot regularly, it would have to be the UK. So, if you are from the UK and viewing this page, I would love to come and cover your wedding day! Drop me a line.

Pulai Springs Johor Garden Wedding, Portraits and Ballroom Banquet
Part of the modernisation of my site included moving Tyler and Chuan’s wedding over to the new sites format, but in the transition I left about 200 photos behind. Time to rectify that! Below you will see many photos from their garden wedding at Pulai Springs Johor followed by portraits and their Ballroom Banquet. One of my favourite photos was their first dance. The original post is also on this site, but with far fewer photos.
BTW Tyler is from New Zealand. A kiwi like me!
Please note the following images are a transfer from my old website and therefore may be of lower resolution than later postings. I do know they will look great on your phone.
